Welcome to the Pastoral Council Webpage
Welcome to our Holy Spirit Parish Pastoral Council page. In the Diocese of Portland, all parishes are directed to form a Pastoral Council as a consultative body that inquires into and reflects upon the vision, hopes, and needs of the community. This is done in order to form and recommend goals and objectives to the Pastor, and then to evaluate how well these have been implemented. The Council also is directed to work collaboratively with the Finance Council in its review and approval of the annual budget in order to ensure that the budget is sufficient to accomplish the goals that the Pastor has approved.
While we typically do not include public comment on our agenda, meetings are open to parishioners. Meetings are held on Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. every other month, alternating between our two main churches. Meeting dates and locations are available by clicking on the "Schedule" tab above.
The Pastoral Council has also scheduled unofficial meetings in the off-months to read and discuss material that will assist the council in the interpretation of data from a new parish-wide survey, and the creation of new goals that focus on building disciples for Christ. This parishioner survey, called the Disciple Maker Index, is being done throughout the diocese with several parishes completing it each year. The year for our parish to complete the survey has not been officially announced.
